The Mid-Atlantic’s Comics-Focused Fan Fest
Baltimore Comic-Con is the east coast’s “Goldilocks” fan fest: not too big, not too small. It’s also a comics-focused convention. While a few non-comics “media guests” were featured, including John Leguizamo and a number of talented voice actors, the majority of programming sessions featured comics creators. The show floor was largely devoid of vendors of tchotchkes and unrelated products, with many tables filled with comics and comic art. Artists Alley included a variety of illustrators and comics creators.
Highlights from my day at Baltimore Comic-Con 2022 included:
Famed artist/writer Frank Miller in a solo Q&A session with fans.
Writer Garth Ennis holding court in an interview and Q&A session.
On the show floor, comics creators autographed books and signed autographs, including Walt and Louise Simonson, Jim Starlin, Mitch Gerads, Brian Stelfreeze, Howard Chaykin, Lee Weeks, José Luis García-López, Dean Haspiel, Mark Morales, John Cassaday, and many others.
